Site Visit to Al-Fidar Bridge Construction

With the aim of enriching UOB engineering students' understanding of bridge construction and encouraging their interaction with the local engineering industry, Dr. Tony Georges, Engineering Professor, and UOB civil engineering students organized On May 4, 2007, a site visit to Al-Fidar bridge construction site in Kisrwan.

Mr. Mike Abdo, Contracts & Quality Control Manager at La Constructa general contracting company, explained the latest technology used for constructing superstructure and substructure elements of this "fast-Track" bridge, which will be opened to traffic ahead of schedule.
Students afterwards visited a nearby casting yard, SOPREL, where they observed casting of prestressed concrete elements.
